226 Sushi & Kimbap

Named for the address, this is a small restaurant, mainly doing take away Korean and Japanese dishes. There is sushi and also hot food - udon, kimbap, bibimbap, with vegetarian versions available. Dining in is not well provided for and the entry stairs are steep. I tried a Japanese Beef Curry Don (slices of beef on a bed of rice with a curry sauce and with beans. It was tasty and not expensive. Water was available, but I had to ask for it.

Hands down the best onigiri ive had in Melbourne!?! its hard to find onigiri in melb already, but boy i think this is on par with ones i had in japan. Freshly made, lots of filling. Fresh crispy seaweed, Rice with crispies in it too! YUM out of 10.

Charges extremely high prices given its quality and quantity is absurd. Bought a kimbap labelled "chicken" for $13, only to be left with an entire roll of just carrots and HAM. Very disappointed, will definitely not be coming back another time and do not recommend to anyone else.

I normally don’t bother leaving reviews, but this one genuinely made me furious. I was starving during my break and grabbed a simple avocado sushi roll marked $3.50. I paid by card. The Korean lady at the counter charged me $4, saying it was a “card surcharge.” That’s a 50 cent surcharge, on a $3.50 item on weekdays during normal working time. That’s not 1.5%, that’s nearly 15%. Let’s be real—this is not about the money, it’s not that I care about 50 cents. What’s disgusting is this kind of petty and dishonest behaviour, clearly targeting students who are unlikely to argue or question. Gross!!!! It’s manipulative and disrespectful. You don’t build trust with customers by lying over a few coins. You lose it completely. I won’t ever come back, and I’ll make sure people know how shady this place is😊😊 You don’t get to scam people just because you think they won’t speak up!!!

Love it here! Super lovely and friendly staff! I get 2 Californian roles each time. Sooo recommend, filling and very affordable 💕

I tried the cheese salmon sushi roll and it was really tasty! The cheese and salmon went so well together. I really liked it and wanna eat it again!
