David’s Master Pot Russell St - Melbourne CBD - Malatang, hotpot

When I visited David’s Master Pot in Melbourne, I was really interested in their menu selection. The meat and vegetables were fresh, and the staff were very nice and helpful. The price is also reasonable, and the place is clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed the malatang soup it was flavorful and satisfying. I would definitely come back again!

This is the most disgusting experience I’ve ever had. Halfway through my meal, I bit into this spam and realised it tasted a bit different so I looked down and found a maggot in it. I was shocked and immediately stopped eating. Things like this should never happen, and I have serious concerns about the food handling and quality control at this place. Btw when I informed staff, they did apologise and offer to give me a refund but I still haven’t received it. This is the last time I dine here and I hope other customers should think twice before eating here.

Today, I was charged for 1kg despite knowing I had my usual 800g and I saw in the scales too. That’s a $10 difference. When I brought this up, the service was dismissive. They only offered a $5 voucher that will probably expire or can’t use before I even want to come back. It’s a shame because the food is actually amazing, but I can’t support a business that overcharges customers and handles it this poorly. If you eat here, double-check the scale before you pay. P.s: How could it be exactly 1kg?

Good variety of hot pot selections, Malatang broth could have been better but that may have been my fault since I chose the mildest level of spiciness. Staff are friendly and helpful.
