Niku Shiki the Glen

I had Wagyu beef with rice off the specials board for lunch and it was the best value and best tasting Wagyu beef. Definitely coming back. There is limited seating at counter style seating in the middle of the butchery /restaurant. Water is provided. There are also preprepared meals at a lower cost at the counter. They are pretty good value too.

Melbourne. A retail shop that specialises in premium cuts of Australian and Japanese Wagyu beef at competitive prices. There’s a smallish restaurant in the shop with a menu of modest Wagyu dishes, but to derive maximum and authentic Wagyu pleasure, a thick cut of Wagyu from the butchery cooked at home is the best enjoyment.

Loving it here in Niku Shili at The Glen. Food is great and very reasonable price. Quality of beef is really good. Serving size is very generous. Sraff are friendly also. The cooking time isnt long also. We ordered the Beef Udon and the Wagyu Sukiyaki Dice Don. It is really amazing. Will definitely be coming back.

I’ve had food here many times. I always ordered the wagyu sukiyaki dice rice. I will probably not come back again after today. Beef was tender but didn’t taste like wagyu. Sauce tasted different. It’s more like not so authentic Cantonese style beef today. Egg was also different! Very upset.

Niku Shiki Glen Waverley Review on 18/6/2025 I stopped by Niku Shiki to check out their display, particularly the wagyu beef. While I enjoy a good quality steak, I am not inclined to spend a premium on heavily marbled cuts. That said, the lunch specials seemed reasonably priced, so I opted for the Diced Beef on Rice. It was competitively priced — on par with most lunch sets in the area. The staff enthusiastically described the beef as “melt-in-your-mouth,” which, in my experience, was an overstatement. The marinated beef was flavoursome, but certainly not the buttery texture I was led to expect. The pieces had a slight chew, and overall the description felt a touch exaggerated. To be fair, the marinade was delicious, and the dish was enjoyable in its own right. However, I could not distinguish this “premium” wagyu from a standard good-quality fillet. Still, it made for a pleasant change from my usual fried noodles.
