Star House Chinese Restaurant is a fantastic place for yum cha in Adelaide. The food was absolutely delicious!! everything we tried was fresh, flavourful, and came out hot. The mango pudding added a perfect finishing touch to the meal. It was also my first time trying duck feet, and it turned out to be a surprisingly lovely dish! All the other familiar yum cha favourites were just as enjoyable and beautifully prepared. Service was impressively fast, and Adrian, who looked after our table, was spot on! professional, friendly, and very attentive. He really enhanced our dining experience. Great food, great service, and a wonderful yum cha experience overall. We’ll definitely be back!

Star House Chinese Restaurant Review Title: “Gouger Shreds and Wok Smoke Glory” Walked in hungry, walked out enlightened. That shredded beef? Dark, sticky, crispy little legends with just the right chew. Sweet and savoury, like it studied balance in a monastery then dropped out to start a food truck. Fried rice was textbook. Wok hei all over it. Egg ribbons, spring onion pops, prawns dancing through every scoop. Balanced, light, clean. The type that makes you forget how much you’ve eaten until you lean back and realise you’ve taken down a mountain. Salt and pepper squid was the sleeper hit. Soft and juicy inside, crispy jacket outside, blitzed with garlic, green onion, and just enough heat to keep your attention. No soggy bits. No wasted bites. But the move of the day? Rice plus beef plus cracker equals the Star House Tostada. No one told me to do it. The worm just knew. 🪱 Service was efficient, no fluff. You get what you need, fast, hot, right. Tables filled with people who’ve been here before. Always the right sign. Verdict: Star House still runs the street. Shred game elite. Squid game undefeated. Prawn cracker game advanced. Bring mates. Order too much. Make up a dish name if you have to.

I called in on boxing day asking if they had a table open for 5, and they said they would place a reservation for us at 7:30 even though we called so late! Food came out fast, but tasted fresh! Even though lots of the staff were busy with orders and other stuff, they still had time for us, making us feel very warm and welcomed! All the food was delicious, roasted duck was tender, delicious and perfectly seasoned, highly recommend! Everything was so yummy, and my grandmother said that this is her favourite Chinese restaurant by far! Would highly recommend placing a reservation because wait time was 20 minutes for walk ins. This restaurant is extremely busy and I completely understand why

Had a great yum cha meal today at Star House. A last minute decision at 1130 to hit the city for some dumplings has me calling ahead to book a table for 3 which was readily available. On arrival we were directed to the table, the restaurant was 1/3 full. We opted for tea and drinks, and quickly completed the order form for the usual favourites. Decor is relatively modern, open and easy going. Kids love the live seafood aquariums and there is no shortage of staff to take orders, attend to requests and turn over tables efficiently and politely. Service is always positive here. Options enjoyed today: BBQ Pork Buns - a favourite for the 3 of us, and 3 to a serve just makes sense! The meat filling flavour is rich and tasty, the outer casing is dense but enjoyable. We had 2 serves. King prawn dumpling 🥟 - generous prawn filling and 3 to a serve. Chinese broccoli with xo sauce - delicious greens with the stalks still crunchy and separated from the leaves. Not a cheap fish, but delicious Salt and pepper squid tentacles - fresh from the kitchen, a light powdery coating served with onion, capsicum and slight hint of chilli Fried rice - light and somewhat more greens in the rice. It is not an oily or heavy dish, but potentially a bit expensive at ~$20 per serve Fried prawn balls - I love this dish, palrawns, fried wonton and sweet + sour sauce. Delicious, but I am the only one at the table that ate a full ball. We enjoyed the meal, and the team was refilled as required. All up $123 for a filling and tasty lunch with a coke, ice tea and tea for 2. Overall Tony Chen recommends but not a cheap note quick meal

Special Soy Sauce Chicken in Canton Style was memorable. The chicken was tender and the soy marinate was on point. 😋 I also enjoyed the Mixed Platter. We picked four kinds, BBQ Pork was impressive, Shredded Jellyfish, Szechuan Chicken in Red Chilli Sauce and Salt & Pepper Eggplant were all delicious. 😋 Stir-fried Organic Cauliflower & Preserved Meat Hot Pot was flavourful but it was quite greasy especially there was a pool of oil on the bottom of the claypot. 😬 Five Spice Deep Fried Duck was in big portion and the gua bao was soft and fluffy. However the duck meat was dry and bland. 😒 Chow Style Oyster Pancake was underwhelming. It was gluggy and oily. Avoid! 😗 Overall was a good dining experience. It was crowded but food came out quick. Servings were generous and service was friendly and efficient. 🙂
