I had hoped that the place would have improved since moving to this new location and after all the "new hype" generated by those shill-y influencers. However, I was sorely disappointed, once again by the lacklustre and mediocre food.
I ordered soya bean drinks, steamed pork soup dumplings (aka xiao long bao), panfried crab pork dumpling ( aka sheng jian bao) and soup pork wontons.
The flavours were almost there. the texture of the fillings was good but the execution is terrible. The bottom of the pan fried dumpling is supposed to be crispy but was not and instead it was doughy and thick. It was also served with a side dish of vinegar with ONE and I kid you not, ONE TINY singke piece of ginger ( as shown in the photo). The wonton soup had no flavours , no salt, no nothing. The only thing ok and middling is the xiao long bao, which nowadays you can get better quality from Aldi of all places ( no kidding as the Aldi ones have thinner skins)
All in all, not much has changed to this place. It's a restaurant for the masses chasing a filling meal but not taste. I would argue that Dumpling king at the front of chinatown is better as the prices are lower, the execute the dishes better and they offer free tea.
Honestly, how did they survive?
